The Christmas Table

The Christmas Table

Here is the Christmas table. I love to get this little tree out and put on all the old cookie cutters I bought in an antique shop in Georgia. I think of the women who used them and hope their cookies bought joy to many children. Behind the tree you can see my new wallpaper which turned out to be perfect for the dining/kitchen wall and covered up an awful lot of that nasty ole beige. Yes, my friends, you are allowed to like beige but don't expect me to. I'm a gaudy gal! The more gold the better! I love the Art Deco feel to this wallpaper. Thank you too Robbie, for the pretty Xmas bunting you made and sent me for Christmas. I love it!

Christmas

Hello and Merry Xmas to all my lovely  friends on this wonderful Christmas Eve!

I've been busy organising stuff for Xmas as you have too. All the usual stuff - shopping for food, shopping for pressies, having lunch going to Xmas parties etc etc. I haven't had time for the blog at all. I'm having Christmas at Suzi and Ed's place with my little boys and am looking forward to seeing them open their pressies. Christmas ain't Christmas without kids is it? It's a big family Xmas and I have done some placemats for my little boys and their two cousins. The three boys have stars on their placemats and Eloise (the queen of the cousins) has a heart. The colour theme this Xmas at Suzi's is aqua and red. It was fun planning it.Here are the piccys.

Pillowcase photos

Finished European Pillowcases

I finished off the pillowcases with a back opening of five buttons. Each pillowcase has a small pocket on the back to fit a small toy in. Edie Rose's pillowcase has a babushka doll which fits into the back pocket.

Rosie

Here is Rosie. She's a winter Christmas doll. I made her last weekend whilst visiting friends on the Gold Coast. She is a gift for my friend Gail. The pattern was in an old Country Threads magazine (2005) and  is by inspired designer Debra Gardiner of Wattlebee Designs. It took a while to gather the right fabrics etc but I'm really pleased with the way she turned out. Debra designs dolls with real character I think. I fell in love with Rosie as soon as I saw her! I mean to make more of Debra's designs.

Vale Harry William Dunn

Today I have been remembering my Dad, Harry, who was born on this day 100 years ago. What an eventful century! He was a great Dad and I miss him every day. Put your teeth in Ole Silver!!

The Saga Continues

Hey Everyone! I have been busy sewing the rest of the European pillowcases, 5 altogether. Four of the fronts are finished and the last front is partially finished and just needs its surrounding fabric. I have attached the photos. Still a lot of work to do though. I have to put the cases together now, sew the pockets on the back, do the buttonholes (35 of them!) and sew 35 buttons on. I decided it would be fun to sew a pocket on the back of each pillowcase - space to put in a favourite small toy.

In the meantime my daughter Suzi has informed me she will be hosting an extended fa,ily Xmas this year. She wants some help to organise the red and aqua colour scheme she has decided on for the decorations and tableware. So watch this space!!

Stop Press! Felix's Quilt Finished!

Yes it is finally finished. I put it on his bed this morning. First he says again "Awesome, Gramma!" Then in the most condescending manner possible for a six year old, he says "That took a long time didn't it?"

European Pillowcase

There is a little boy called Harry who's a bit keen on dinosaurs. His Nana asked me to make him a pillow for his bed. I dug out the cute dinosaur fabric I just knew I had somewhere. I haven't finished it yet but here is the front of the pillowcase. I had a lot of fun doing it.

Japanese Textile Study Tour

Nat and Bryan have really created an interesting and exciting program with their Japanese Textile Study Tour. I can hardly wait to go on this tour.  I am staying an extra few days too and going to textile museums which will compliment the tour. It is my idea of a great holiday. Just have a look at the program (link below)
